(cussing up a storm under his breath)…this is not what i want to hear. its apparant we need some hitters. i know chemistry is huge but we gotta go after some decent bats. that line-up last year was horrendous at times. if we dont make a few changes, we will have a repeat of last year…close but no cigar. go Giants.

One-run games are basically coin flips no matter what kind of pitching you have; all teams eventually gravitate towards .500 in these games. Tim Lincecum can lose 2-1 just as well as anybody. If you want to win a lot of games, you're going to need to score a lot more runs than you allow. To do that, you're going to need to, you know, score runs. That's how this game works.

I doubt the 2012 Giants ability to post a 128 ERA+ as a team, but I don’t doubt their chances of only scoring 570 runs….again.

as otherworldly as Timmy has been, Cain is probably the man going forward. Lincecum’s preference to chill year to year through his Arb. years, and yes likely at 20(+?) per year,
segueing into his first F.A. payday, parlayed with the Zito albatross going away…….
Hey! this is starting to look like Prince money for forseeable future.
With Baumgarner dawning as a number 2 lefty to Cain in the Ace role, and Fielder batting cleanup, Cain’s W/L record (not to mention Huff) would be an afterthought.
Let another G.M. deal with the financial surreality, eventual Rotator Cuff issues, and other Dime-Baggage that is The Freak.

Dangerous game they are playing if they don’t upgrade the offense. 1, they are basically going on the win games 2-1 and 1-0 plan. Which is always tricky. 2, if one of their guys do have an off year, they are done. 3, if they somehow can’t sign either of them (which is possible, Lincecum will get over 20, and Cain will be in the ballpark, unless they give a home town discount), then thye are stuck with a terrible offense and no depth in the rotation

“Well, we can’t hit, so I don’t see any reason to work on improving our hitting”.
