Francisco, do you have something against Venezuelan players? The Tigers sucked for years and finally got better when they started acquiring Latin players. So I say, the more the merrier. A Cuban would be a nice addition too.

Is there something in the Tiger’s team policy to recruit as many Venezuelan players as possible? I just find it curious: Magglio Ordonez, Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez… I guess those guys need a 4th for Poker Night. If they keep adding to the roster they can change the team name from Detroit Tigers to Tigres de Aragua! XD

I think they should trade Verlander to the Yankees for Nunez. Seems like a fair swap to me….

Big waste of money and prospects to trade for this guy. They should just sign a free agent like Nick Punto with the money they would have to spend on him and save the prospect. Izturis isn’t a bad player, he just isn’t an upgrade over Santiago and isn’t very durable. Seems like Detroit is either going after more stop gap players or getting ready to pull off a big deal and are using guys like Maicer to make themselves look less interested in their real target.

WHY? Izturis is a more expensive version of Ramon Santiago. Just resign Ramon if that’s the case. The team needs an upgrade not just to make moves for the sake of making moves.
