From’s Ken Rosenthal comes word that members of the Angels’ front office paid a visit recently to free agent third baseman Aramis Ramirez and an offer is likely coming soon.

Ramirez struggled with injuries and inconsistency during the latter part of his tenure in Chicago, but he posted a bounceback .871 OPS with 26 home runs and 93 RBI in 149 games this year and he’s by far the top third baseman on the market this winter.

A-Ram is also drawing free agent interest from the Tigers and Brewers, and we’d expect a few other clubs to join the fray at next week’s annual Winter Meetings in Dallas, Texas.

The Angels are unlikely to get a quick decision from the 33-year-old once they make their offer.

He has REALLY big home/road splits though. He’s never cracked an .800 OPS away from Wrigley and he’d be going to a slight pitchers park if he signed with LAA. But considering the production they got from 3B last year it’d probably still be a good move at the right price.

Please don’t Angels….We don’t need another Vernon Wells at 3rd base now too.

How about trading for a Cub instead. Wells for Soriano? Bow-wow!

Soriano’s actually slightly better than Wells, offensively. Which is sad.

Now Soriano for Abreu…that I could stomach.
