How can you say that the Feesh don't understand player value, much less fungibility? Just look at the clever, team friendly deal they made with John Buck. It may look like they overpaid, but I bet you they found a way to take depreciation on their catchers when they file their returns in April.

Say it was 6 years and $90M, or something in that neighborhood….has any other team made any kind of offer at all? Considering Reyes recent history, that deal could be a steal of Miami or could be a bust if he can’t stay healthy….would teams really risk more than that on him?

The Bell signing could only be spun positively if you consider it a “statement” signing. Reyes would be a better statement, and would, in fact, actually be a good BASEBALL signing as well.
