Didn’t “The Babe” die young? Maybe he had a beer belly, and he smoked cigars. I don’t think Prince has either of those habits.

I would not sink the kind of money Fielder wants into him. Any athlete that obese, whatever his current disposition is, is putting unnatural pressure on his joints and ligaments, not to mention his heart. Somewhere down the line, given how fat he is (“portly” is polite but inaccurate in this case) there’s going to be an injury or just a breakdown that’s going to initiate the usual cascade of career-long DL holidays. It’d be a miracle, and not a minor one, if it didn’t catch up with him sooner rather than later. It’s just not worth it.
