If by “operate” you mean, “have an ERA above 4.5,” then yeah. And that’s with a better K rate than Buehrle’s had since 2008 and a lower walk rate than he’s ever had.

I get a laugh when a commentator says that a certain team is the favorite to sign “Joe Blow”. It is very rare that the person is correct. For example, I was reading on another site that an ignoramus said that the Blue Jays were the favorites to sign Fielder. The claim was probably based on a story by Morosi that the Jays should sign Fielder. If he had been reading comments by the President and the GM of the Jays in the Toronto Star and The Globe & Mail, it would have been obvious that the Jays do not want to sign high priced free agents for long term deals. Most of the free agent speculation in the media is uninformed hot air.
