Win lose or draw…expect a fire sale on all the high priced FA. The Marlin fans can expect them to go big and then get rid of everyone to get back under $60M/yr team payroll. If you buy a JR jersey, make sure it is the kind with the name and team logo velcroed on because they will not be with the team for too many years.

If there is one consistent thing about Marlins baseball, it’s that the ownership cannot be trusted to build, develop and keep a team together.

Also, I think McScrooge is just trying to outdo the Heat offseason by making the same type of huge FA acquisitions. He is so predictible.

Ike Davis isn’t a very good hitter. He has a long uppercut swing that sells out for power. Against RHP he is very vulnerable to chasing fastballs up the ladder and out of the zone, and with an uppercut swing he has less than no chance of ever catching up with one of them. He also can’t hit LHP’s to save his life and is particularly vulnerable to changeups down and away. Guess what almost every LHP throws effectively?

When he’s sitting dead red, he has to trigger his swing before the ball is even released. Good luck with that approach, Ike.

On the other hand, if he does return to his pre-2010 form, they’ll put up with a lot more of his puelling and kvetching before they hand him off, if they do at all.
