J. – If the numbers in your piece are even close to accurate. Ortiz would be foolish to accept a 2 year deal. $15 or $16MM for 1 year versus as you say a “little” over $10MM per on a 2 year deal. He would be stupid to accept a 2 year deal like that.

Even $15MM for 1 year would virtually guarantee that next year he would get at least a $6MM come the 2013 season with poor numbers. With a half way decent 2012 he could easily get $8 to 10MM hitting the FA market again in 2013.

I look for him to get 2 year $25MM deal from Boston to make it worth his while.
