I saw Montero all the time in AAA. Gio for Montero straight up is a losing deal for the A’s. A top flight ace lefty pitcher is all kinds of more valuable than a DH which Montero will be as he is horrendous behind the dish.

Look I got to see Montero against the Red Sox in person on his great Saturday at home but Gio Gonzalez at baseball season age 25 is very good. His WHIP is a bit high for my liking but he would only have to be a #2 on the Yanks. Yes, Banuelos looks good now but so did Hughes, Joba, Kennedy at that same age. They all have experienced growing pains and aren’t as good as Gonzalez. The growing pains of Banuelos will occur as virtually NO pitchers come on the big league scene as a starter and dominate. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. I would have to think very long about this trade if I were Cashman.

I agree with the last post. Unless its a number 1 pitcher I am not giving up a hitter like Montero & a pitcher who may be better than what I’m trading for. Gio is not a 1 – so I wouldn’t go past a Nuñez & Adam Warren deal

Can’t blame these teams for not getting our internal memos with regards to our trade policies. Players like montero and banuelos and betances are unavailable unless your pitcher wears a crown and has the royal title of “king”. Outside of that, those prospects are not available for your #2 or #3 starter. Our trading chips will be for Nunez, gardner, swisher and joba. So with that in mind, we’ll offer either Nunez OR gardner for Gonzalez. I can be reached in my office if you’d like to consummate the transaction.

In order to get premier talent it seems like your top pitching prospect plus your top hitting prospect is whats going to get it done, between Danks, Gio, and what it took for the Sox to get Gonzalez. Teams gotta realize that 4 years of a cost controlled ace type pitcher is going to cost beau coup talent in return
