Totally agree. Has anyone determined who pitches for them after a hopefully healthy Josh Johnson and a solid at best #2? I think they contend for a wildcard but thats about it.

I have this funny feeling that even after the Marlins go and sign everyone and their mother, they still fall short of playoff contention. If you go on ESPN or somewhere and look at their depth chart...they've got a LOT of holes.

Are you saying Skip isn't a quality 2b? Or Punto? Or Aaron Miles? Or Joe Thurston? Or any other warm bodies the Cardinals have thrown out there?

One thing the Cardinals have proven during the TLR era was that you don't need a Chase Utley or Joe Morgan to win the WS. I think they invest more in their bullpen catcher than they have second base.

If, and I still believe Pujols/and agent are bluffing, the Marlins do land the big Fish, ironic as that may sound, one has to wonder what the Cards would do. This might be a double whammy to the Pheelies. Not only do the Marlins become legitimate contenders it might force St. Louis to invest their abundance of new cash on a SS, namely Rollins. They would probably do the Buehrle thing too, and still have a few bucks available for a quality Second Baseman. What a tangled web we weave.
