I like the moves they have made. Torres was a nice story for 2010, but really hurt them last year with one dumb AB after another. Ross and Torres were huge drags on the lineup last year and needed to go elsewhere. There’s no way in heck Ross is getting a 3-year deal from anybody. He overplayed his hand. Cabrera and Pagan are good fits for the type of lineup the Gents will pay for. It’s a better lineup than they had last year and should be good enough to get a wildcard, which with this pitching staff, is all that you need to have a shot. Beltran gets hurt too much for one more big contract. SF has inhouse options for more offense with Pill, Belt and a rebound year from Huff and a healthy Posey and Freddy.

Beltran is exactly the type of reclamation project in which Larry Beinfest used to specialize. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Feesh swoop in on him, even if quietly. There is one of them Latinos the Feesh are supposedly packing in to attract the local Caribbean and South American demographic.

The Giants confuse me. If your not the type of franchise that “goes for it” when you have a championship window based on a great starting staff then why blow your top prospect for Beltran last year? If you had that mindset to try for another ring last year than why not again this year? It’s a crime to see that staff get wasted with such a bad offense. Then again since they could be my favoritie teams competition for the next few years I say GO SABEAN!!!

So basically we gave up a top of the line prospect for free. Never liked the Beltran deal. Not having him or Wheeler for this season and on goes to show the stupidity and senility of Brain Sabean. I can’t understand why the Giants keep extending this idiots contract for. He’s nothing but destructive from the horrible farm system dating back to the 90′s to the Zito contract and now this.

He is not being talked about because people don’t see him as a guy you can depend on to be in the lineup. He can play, he’s not worth what he was getting in New York, but he’s not a bumb. But you can depend on him to hit the dl 2-3 times this year
