Ramirez has made no public comments himself. This stuff is all speculation. The last word, from Mota, his agent, indicates that Ramirez has said nothing at all about his contract. Until someone from the Marlins comes forward to refute that, its all just more random ad hominem crap being said about Ramirez. The people saying it reveal more about themselves than there is any reflection on Hanley Ramirez. Buncha trash IMO.

I actually think your Giants might match-up well. Build a package around a non-Cain/Timmy pitcher, add a pitching prospect with some upside etc..and it might get the job done. Marlins need pitching badly. Johnson is recovering from TJ, Volstad, Sanchez and Nolasco have not found the kind of consistency big league clubs had hoped to see from them and so on.

Take a deep breath. Relax. You are being asked to move 50 feet to your right on the field. It’s not a big deal. This move actually makes your team better. I know you haven’t really had a chance to be on a winning team before, but from what I understand, it’s pretty great. This is not a slight against you. You’re getting paid a lot of money and have been playing worse. Re-focus and play better. Don’t be a dick about this stuff. Then, you’ll be a free agent and earn tons more money. Everyone will be happier.

It seems like a simple move and he is being paid alot of money to play baseball. But when he signed his contract he was the shortstop,he was the face of the franchise, now he is told he has to move and Reyes is the star. Yes, it is a team sport, but it is professional team sports, these guys are not kids. If the Marlins no longer want Hanley to play SS and he is not open to being apart of the new direction, then trade him, the Marlins are just as guilty in not living up to the contract that both parties signed.

The Marlins can get some good stuff in return for Hanley. Don’t make this the story of their off-season. The Marlins have alot of new stuff to be excited about, no reason to bring along those who don’t want to be apart of it.

So then…what is it, do you think, that makes you dislike Ramirez but not Young when they basically have done the same thing?

Could it be that public opinion is shaped by the spin put on events by reporters, who may be susceptible to their own brands of bias?

If not, then what possible reason is there to feel differently about the actions of these two players?

Michael Young had already changed positions for his team. Twice. On top of that he hadn’t dogged it repeatedly and been the trouble for varying degrees of douche-baggery either.

Every case is different in the real world, so don’t even try to slap Young in with grade A candyass who has been nothing, but a crappy person his entire baseball life.

Boston hated him, their coaches at every level who had to endure him were glad to see him go. He has done nothing to change that assessment in his time in Florida either.
