Frankly, I’m not sure why the Yankees even bothered. I doubt that his production will translate as well in MLB. So is this guy going to supplant Nunez or even Pena for that matter? The Yankees don’t have 5 guys like him in the minors right now as good or better?

I understand very well how the posting process works. The implication of my comment which I believe you failed to understand is that if he decides to try again next year to be posted at 30 years old he will be in even a worse negotiating position then he is this year. And “striking it rich” here in the states playing baseball for a MLB team will be even less likely.

A year older and still absolutely no MLB experience is not a receipt for increasing your value with MLB teams.

I am not sure you understand how the posting process works or the goals of it for players. He doesn’t have to come to an agreement either…he can just stay in Japan, be comfortable, and make very good money….without riding buses around the back roads of the US while playing minor league baseball.

Apparently this guy doesn’t understand the way American Baseball Teams works. A Thirty (30) year old players next year from Japan with absolutely no MLB experience is likely to “strike it rich” here be baseball standards.

I can’t say I know a whole lot about Nakajima aside from I’ve read today, but with a .297/.354/.433 slash line and a weak arm according to scouts that have seen him, I fail to see how he thinks he’s worth substantially more than his $2million posting fee. That said, he could be a useful player for the Yankees as a utility guy as A-Rod and Jeter will require more days off so hopefully this is just Heyman blowing smoke (as he is wont to do).
