They can’t go after free agents until the team is sold, so it’s either sign their own guys or risk having a bench of underdeveloped rookies. I like Gwynn and he can play all 3 outfield positions which means 1 player spot to use for 3 starters rest days. To me this is a great deal, esp for only $1 mil/yr.
