2) It appears that no one on any MLB beat is doing their job (again). The 13-0 record that MLB owns over appeals does not count FALSE positives (and yes, they do exist).

Most importantly, that reported number does not include/reflect discredited results before the appeal hearing ever occurs (which Kevin Goldstein of Baseball Prospectus has stated and clarified on Twitter that a trusted source confided in him an account of a specific player who had tested positive and the suspension was dismissed before it ever reached a hearing.

3) These “facts” are in the digisphere because Jeff Passan caught a comment that Goldstein had made, and Passan asked him to elaborate on what he meant. YET, NO ONE has yet published a denial or acknowledgement by MLB. Has anyone even posed the question to Michael Weiner, David Cornwall or the Commissioner’s Office?

We are given the impression that the testing is foolproof and never yields false-positives – yet SCIENTIFICALLY speaking this CAN’T BE TRUE. There is a margin of error with all tests, no matter how well sigma six principles have been applied.

There have been tests that have proven erroneous. But those never reach the appeals process (preserving that politically precious 13-0 record), the player never gets suspended and most importantly we NEVER hear about those cases.

I think MLB should do a much better job of “rushing” the process. This guy tested positive how many months ago and we’re only finding out now? It takes like 2 weeks for a drug addict to get tested from start to finish. This doesn’t really make any sense.

Also, probably wise to remember that ESPN stands for ENTERTAINMENT and SPORTS Programming Network (journalism? not so much).

Let the process play itself out. If you can’t do that, then you don’t deserve to heard regarding the issue at hand.
