He has speed, great glove work, and it’s fun to watch him crash into the walls to snag potential home run balls, but his bat and his arm are both liabilities. Of course, given the Twins’ current situation, it’s pretty much a given he’ll be a starter, so I’d say put him in left field and convert Willingham to a RF. In left field, Revere would at least have an outside chance of holding a runner on second.

Do you want the guy with the weaker arm making a throw to 3rd from centerfield or from the right field corner? Span is a good centerfielder, but he doesn’t have the reckless abandon that Revere has. Revere sacrifices the body like Torii and Puck used to. That’s the guy you want in center. He’s faster than Denard and gets a better jump too. Denard is the better hitter.

From what I saw, you really really want Willingham in LF, or at DH. Maybe he’s gotten better, he made the adjustment to OF after coming to the majors.

I’m not familiar with Willingham’s arm, but I know as a Twins fan I’ll miss Cuddy’s cannon. I like this move, and think the Twins made the right decision, but I’m not seeing a plus arm in our corners, so although the D should get to more balls, they will also be throwing out less runners. It’ll be interesting to see how that plays out for them.

Besides, Willingham can’t be a worse defender than Delmon Young, can he? I sure hope not…

Sure, he can cover a little more ground than Span, but if the ball hits the ground before Revere gets to it, it’s off to the races for any baserunners.
