<i>"However, as a Reds fan, I don’t think investing 3 years and that much money into a 33 year old would have been worth it. "</i>

I wonder how Twins fans feel about it.

sorry Josh you did not have what it takes to play for the reds under walt. you were not cheap and more importantly you did not play for the cardinals. despite what experts say the reds do not need to overpay anbody to play left field. Heisey can do the job at a fraction of the cost if given a chance which he has not gotten under dusty so far. as for third base what is wrong with a fransisco/rolen platoon? at short they have enough guys who can play it. you start cozart and have janish as backup. he actually started the season doing well at the palte last year until he hurt his ankel. then he came back to soon because he knew dusty would stick with renteria if he didn't. so what does the toothpick do? he has janish batting second! not 8th where good fielding weak hitters have batted since baseball began but second. yea that was not putting any pressure on him at all.if not him todd frazier can do the job. instead of wasting money on washed up cards and other teams rejects why not use the guys you have?

That definitely would have been a good pickup for the Reds. Left Field is definitely a position they need help with. However, as a Reds fan, I don't think investing 3 years and that much money into a 33 year old would have been worth it. Willingham has stats to back it up, but can he keep that going into his late 30's? I still think Dave Sappelt may be a good option in left for Cincy. We'll see. Jocketty is a good GM. I'm sure something will come up after the new year.
