Random fan closer, that could work. Come to the park, pay to enter a drawing and one of the Wilpon brothers picks a fan from an over sized Mets cap. Good way to reduce debt and keep the fans coming.

The Mets would be better off holding a raffle each night and whichever number is picked gets to be their closer for the night. That way they’d be making money, as opposed to paying a closer, and I’d take my chances on a random fan rather than put Frank Francisco out in the ninth.
