H'lo there bozo. How kind of you to worry for my social and mental health. I'm touched. Lemme 'splain: The trouble is the baseball. I live in hockey-ville. NONE of my buddies give a crap about baseball. We talk hockey. We play hockey. We even get in hockey fights (if you ever want a demo on how to fight on skates I'll be glad to show you: think about starting a reluctant chainsaw. You're the chainsaw and my fist is trying to start your head). Hence, since I live for baseball, golf, and summer time, if I want a baseball fix I gotta go to HBT. Decades of being a lonely baseball fan washed away by the friendly non-judgemental baseball fans: its just lovely.

As to me being here 24/7...just checked: you haven't missed any days since you started yapping away on this blog. Projecting again, eh?

As a baseball fanatic for a half century, and a 20 year resident of DFW and Ranger fan, I simply can't see why a sports network would spend that kind of money for Rangers rights. Yeah, the past couple of years have been GREAT, and, this being the capital of Bandwagon Nation, Rangers attemdamce and ratings have been up up up. It's still a fairly easy ticket to get. History tells me, though, that when this run is over and "rebuilding" becomes the buzzword of the day in Arlington yet again, those riding the bandwagon (and I suspect they are MANY) will be back to doing their sweating at any of the many area lakes rather than at the ballpark, and American Idol reruns will suck in those who are not true fans of the game. Time will tell, I suppose, if that kind of money is warranted, and I suppose someone at Fox will be either a very big hero or a very big goat.

cur68 - Dec 19, 2011 at 3:47 PM
Yeah, yeah, says the guy who’s team is STACKED with pitching…one of whom I feel compelled to point out is Roy Halladay, former Blue Jays prospect, starting pitcher and all around ace.

Actually, I’m more bent over eye surgery tomorrow and having to wait up to 5 days before I can find out who won the rights to negotiate with Darvish. I wanna know NOW, so I can relax for a few days.

__
All you have to do is ask one of your real-life friends to find out for you...then again, judging from the fact that you are on here 24-7, you don't have any real-life friends, so I guess you will just have to wait those five days after all.

The 2004 contract also included the post-retirement 10 year personal services contract of unknown value. Does that get transferred with the sale of the club? Does Clemens play golf with Drayton McLane and his buddies or wax McLane's car or was this transferred to Jim Crane?

You're assuming a lot of things you don't actually know. Chief among them, Darvish's level of performance.

Honestly, if the Rangers bring him in, I think that speaks volumes. That organization has had an extremely sharp eye for pitching in recent years. Shit, if they found Colby Lewis in Japan and saw him as an MLB starter...

10 playoff games–without question a large enough sample size

Wha!?!?!?

Reminds me of another scrub who went 1-2 with a 4.12 ERA in his first nine playoff starts. A fella named Clemens.

My math says he went 2-2 with a 3.51 ERA. Also, the bulk of his 24 ER in those 10 starts, 7 to be exact was the first game he ever pitched in the playoffs. Game 2 he went 8.1IP with 3 ER, and Game 3 he went 7IP 1 ER.

It was months ago that the Rangers were rumored to be after Darvish. This is nothing new.
My worst fears may be coming true. One can just imagine Nolan Ryan watching the Darvish Yu tube K reel, frothing with a crotch rocket and muttering "Bet the farm!".

The Jays after Latos is either an indication that they know they didn't bet enough, or maybe hoping to use Latos as leverage in a 3way trade for a big bat. You'd almost think AA asked Jocketty what it would take to get a package including Yonder or maybe just Votto.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this... but maybe someone could have connected the dots and cut out the middle man, just sayin'.

If the Rangers win, who do I blame for all this stink? The Puhols, that's who.
