He is worth giving a try. I would not pay too much for Cordero, even though I like the guy very much. I think his time has come and passed him by. He has too many games with men getting on base and had high blown saves last year. He used to be almost a 1-2-3 lites out closer. NO MORE!

It seems as though none of the closers this year really justify the huge salaries they’re commanding; I wouldn’t want Cordero, Rodriguez, Madson, Papelbon, Bell and whoever else I might be forgetting for 10-13 mil annually. Then, on the other hand, I’d hate to see my team blow 15 leads in the late innings. The Mets have gottenaround this problem buy designing a team that is almost guaranteed to never have a lead in the late innnings. Fiendishly clever, that Sandy Alderson.

good luck to whoever signs him. make sure you keep your heart medication hand because as firemarshal1 says any save he gets is never easy. he ay 1-2-3 1 night then walk 4 straigt guys the next or givie up the tying run before getting the outs he needs to get out of the inning. he is not worth the big bucks or a multi-year deal that goes with it.

His strikeout rate hasn’t been that great for 3 years. A big part of last year’s success seemed to be allowing fewer hits than normal (luck) and having no one on base when he gave up home runs (more luck). I hope they don’t commit too much money.
