I really wish the Yanks kept Brackman to keep the 3 killer B’s but have to do with 2 now. Anyway I watched Banuelos pitch in AAA he has lights out stuff. Just needs more time to develop. LHP with 96-97 FB and good Breaking stuff ? He could really help the big club out. Betances needs to figure out his delivery I believe. He was wild in AAA and it carriers up to the bigs. I’m supporting Cashman and not trading all the prospects and blowing up the farm system. Rockies wanted Banuelos/Montero/Betances for Jiminez and Cashman held them. It’s exciting to see young talent. Yes it’s nice to sign a well known and acclimated Vet who can step right in and help. But young good talent like Betances/Banuelos/Romine/Montero/Laird/Mitchell/Phelps can come up and step in eventually. I’m excited for Gary Sanchez. Kid’s supposed to be A STUD! BEtter than Montero supposedly offensively and defensively and he’s only in Single A. Take the pay roll cut and avoid luxury taxes. Burnett is capable of repeating his 09 success watch game 5 of past years ALDS he helpe the team stay in it. An it wasn’t so mch the pitching in the playoffs it was the awful performances from the guys who ARE WELL KNOWN AND SUCCESFUL VETS and choked again A-Rod/Tex/Swisher and pretty much everyone else. I think yanks have a shot. Thy were picked to come I’m 3rd last year and who won the AL East? Yanks have enough firepower to out slug most teams. They will be in playoffs again. Apologize for the rant lol

No thanks on Garza…the Twins gave up on him for a reason, as did your Rays. He would melt in NYC in the long term given the aforementioned emotional issues.

I’d give Warren/Phelps/Mitchell (and a lesser), but no more. But in reality, all the Yankees need is a one-year rental (unless AJ decides to pull a Rip Van Winkle and wake up). CC at the 1, Nova at the 2, Hughes/AJ at the 3/4 and Garcia at the 5 will be more than adequate for this year absent another pitching move, with the Killer B’s or any other mid-season pickup to fill the gap. Joba could even be ready to step in at some point and give innings as a spot starter or long reliever. The bullpen is mostly set and the closer is money, so the Yankees don’t have nearly the problems facing the Red Sox in that regard. Offense isn’t really a problem, so Cashman is best served just standing pat like he did last season.

Can’t be any different than how “uncanny” the Boston homers were when they stated en masse that the Red Sox were primed to win the World Series this past year…WHOOPS.

Same for when the Pats fans thought that they had 19-0 locked up a few seasons ago…WHOOPS

I could go on endlessly citing example after example of “uncanny” predictions by your moronic fan bases, but then again, I have better things to do.

Am I the only one that finds it hilarious that the Cubs traded away young pitching last year to get Garza? As a Rays fan, I hope that either the Yankees or Sox get Garza. As much as I love the guy, he falls apart and loses his composure in critical situations. He is a #3 with #1 stuff, simply because he let’s his emotions get the best of him on the mound.

I do agree with with bozoforall as it concerns Banuelos. I can’t see Cashman/Yankees including him in a package for Garza. I can however see Betances as part of the package. As for the other “young pitchers/prospects” Cahsman could offer up, I would think it could be pick 1 from Warren/Phelps/Mitchell and then perhaps a lesser prospect as a “throw” in.

If Garza had more years of team control other than just 2 and also was cheaper over those 2 years it’s estimated via arbitration Garza will cost a team about $20MM. I think Epstein could expect more, but as it stands now I can’t see Cashman giving up any more then that. At least that’s my opinion.

Garza has 4.1 years of experience (According to Cot’s). That means he wont be a free agent til 2014. Theo can afford to hold out for the best deal.

Theo doesn’t have to “dream on” on about anything. He doesn’t want to trade him that bad but if he does trade Garza, he wants to win big in the trade. He’s handling it perfectly fine from the Cubs side of things.

No deal. The Yankees would rather wait a year and get the full extent of a Banuelos, as opposed to the slowly declining production of a Garza.

I love that this is a headline for people. Duh. The Cubs have a positional core in place, but the pitching in the system is awful. Garza should net at least Banuelos or comparable talent. If he doesn’t, there’s no sense dealing him.

Dream on, Theo. You are getting neither Banuelos nor Betances from the Yankees for Garza (he’s no Santana in his prime and the Yankees weren’t giving up that level of prospects for Johan either). And since the Red Sox have nothing to offer you (not that you should do them any favors for how they treated you), you might as well make a deal with the Blue Jays.
