Tim is a great pitcher. It is to bad he signed that extention with the Giants. He would have been worth 25 million on the open market. He is getting paid about half of what he is worth. You never know if he will have an injury or what the future will hold. I hope that Matt Cain sees the light!

This was the first thing that came to my mind, too.

This was Lincecum a whole two months ago:

“It’s just easier for me mentally not to have to put that kind of pressure on yourself,” he said. “Not that you don’t want to succeed, but when you’re signed to a long-term deal, it’s like saying, ‘I’m going to live up to every expectation.’ That’s why I like going year to year, so I can improve on it and not sit on what I’ve done.”

Actually Tim has a pretty good motion with none of the dreaded Inverted W, L or other messed up mechanics that make guys look good when they are young but destroys their elbow and then their shoulder as they put some innings on. He’ll have a far longer and more effective career than guys like Strasburg or Michael Pineda, in fact he may already have more seasons than they’ll get as starters given that they both have already had their elbows go which means they have about 2-3 years before their shoulders follow.

I wouldn’t hesitate to extend Lincecum. Wish the Mariner’s had taken the hometown boy when they had the chance. Ah well.

I’m with Timmeh on this one: that kickass Hawaiian weed ain’t cheap, and you gotta have a Tiffany bong for that stuff. This boils down to politics: if Congress will just legalize the shit, it will be cheaper and Tim could take a couple years off his demands. Till then, though, gotta make sure your head’s cool for a decade at least.

What you hear off in the distance are the NY writers beating the drum that the Giants MUST trade Lincecum to the Yankees NOW. There is NO way a team not in New York could afford him. It is INEVITABLE that the Yankees will have CC, Felix and Lincecum to head their rotation.

Would you rather give ten years to Pujols or TL? Which would you rather pay 26 million a year to?

If TL stays healthy it’s a no-brainer since few people think Albert will be worth his contract at the end of his contract. But at least he could still contribute even as a mediocre DH.

But is Lincecum Gary Nolan or Nolan Ryan? Giving any pitcher a long term deal, especially one with Lincecum’s motion, has got to give a GM heart palpitations.

Once he’s a free agent he will leave. Brian Sabean is a jack@ss and can’t fathom keeping a player below the age of 50. If Lincecum were 47, Sabean would have already locked him up to a 10 year deal. I’ve heard rumblings Jesse Orosco is on his radar for a bullpen spot…
