Bobby Jenks needed a second back procedure

The Boston Globe reports that Red Sox reliever Bobby Jenks — who missed most of last season with back problems and had surgery to remove bone fragments in December — needed a second surgery to deal with fluid buildup around his spine. The recover time for that, the Globe reports, is eight weeks, which means he likely won’t be ready when spring training gets underway next month.

Jenks was able to manage only 19 appearances last season, striking out 17 and walking 13 in 15 and two-thirds with a 6.32 ERA.  Good thing Boston got Mark Melancon and Andrew Bailey this winter.

Gonna go out on a limb and say that this signing will not be written about as the Sox’ best.

Liked it at the time, but probably not.

But it was a two-year contract for a reliever. Those always work out.

Just curious. When then do the Red Sox anticipate Jenks being ready for big league action?

They’re penciling him in for Labor day 2012, .. just in time for the 2012 meltdown. Hey somebody has to go out there and give up that crucial game blowing hit that ends the season.

It doesn’t really matter what they say. The Red Sox medical staff is pretty notorious for putting out bad information.

ALL New England sports teams are notorious for putting out bad information..along with cheating, using PEDs…and selling out their mothers to get any advantage, no matter how small.

What Jenks really needs is a front procedure.

And honestly I’m not sure the sides don’t need some work as well.

And there is a line of anxious male Red Sox fans ready to service Jenks’s front. Along with the rest of the Red Sox team.

The bone fragments were the the fried chicken he was eating- bones and all.

Looking forward to watching the Red Sox continue to go down the drain…like the losers that they are.

Bozo, what times is the Jets game this weekend.

      …oh, wait…

      • bozosforall - Jan 10, 2012 at 1:23 PM

Don’t care a whit about the Jets…but it’s obvious that you do. What a loser you are.

Wow. Bobby Jenks, you just made me feel grateful for all the good in my life.

This guy has had multiple back injuries, a pulmonary embolism and two surgeries. I really hope he takes his time and comes back when he is healthy.

I don’t consider this a bad signing at all. This guy almost died and he is still fighting to come back to pitch.

    Thoughts and Prayers.
