How embarrassing must this be for Bud Selig? His daughter’s the owner of this team and they have always used Braun as the example of how well the testing process was working. I predicting that he’ll win the hearing and we’ll all raise our eyebrows when this happens.

He could be HIV positive, testosterone injections are very common in fighting that disease. Also Herpes treatments can involve the use of testosterone. If this is the case, from a legal standpoint it could get very interesting to see how MLB handles this.

I also am not a doctor but isn’t it possible he has low testosterone levels and is using a synthetic supplement? It’s apparently pretty common to have “Low T” after the age of 25 and in some cases requires a relatively high dose of testosterone to relieve the symptoms. Just a thought…

Even if what he took is for a legit medical purpose, hes still getting suspended. The testing rules state you must get permission from the league prior to taking the substance in question and you must have a doctors prescription for it. If he did not speak to MLB prior to taking what ever drug caused the insanely high levels in his system, hes getting suspended. Although, if all the explanations stated in the comments are correct it might help him with public perception.

I don’t really want to intrude on Braun’s life, but I heard some talk about him having a personal medical issue that is going to be brought up during this talk? While I’m willing to give anyone a benefit of the doubt, what the hell kind of medical issue could you possibly have that would give you record high numbers of testosterone, or could cause a false positive?
