Ok, here’s your chance to call me pedantic: that’s ‘Batista’, not ‘Bautista’. One’s a 40 year old scrub pitcher. The other is made of solid oak, swings a maple bat, and is the World’s Most Interesting Hitter. True, both have “Blue Jays” on their CV, but only one has “HR leader 2 years on the trot” on his…and if he did go to Kilimanjaro the mountain would grow short of breath from being around him… yeah pal, I heart Jose Bautista, so what?

Let’s keep some perspective here, it’s just a minor league contract. The Mets are just taking a low cost/no reward approach to insurance, it’s not like he’s part of their plans outside of emergencies.

It doesn’t surprise me in the least that Batista is signed and Fielder isn’t. It’s a little more difficult to wrap up those nine figure contracts than the minor league ones.

Yeah: crazy in an “underpants on the outside of your clothes” kind of way…rather like Saberboy in fact. I wonder what RA Dickey thinks about having Batista as a teammate? Probably no one should let him know about this while he’s so low on oxygen up there on Kilimanjaro.

I truly feel that the “Coupons”…..I mean the Wilpons love messing with the Mets fan. It isn’t bad enough that the team that team is on the MLB Food Stamps program. The Wilpon’s go even further to ensure your misery by letting Reyes walk, essentially be in hibernation during free agency, and trying to sell you that your 2012 season’s fortunes are going to changed by moving the fence in 10 feet.

Meanwhile the poor little Mets fan only has the Shake Shack and Kieth Hernandez ripping the team to look forward to.
