Mind you this is coming from a Giants fan….Dodger stadium is a great place for people interested on the game itself. Ballparks now are becoming tourist attraction funhouses not centered around baseball. The amenities etc in the modern parks serves to people who don’t care about baseball but rather having a good social outing. Dodger stadium has one focus and that’s baseball. Nothing much to it other than seats, scoreboard, old time baseball tunes, and a-hole fans. It’s a baseball park and something the game is straying away from. Dodger stadium is a classic.

There are many charming things about Dodger Stadium, but it has struggled to update the facilities to keep step with new ballparks that offer so much more in the way of the total fan experience. All of the seating I have ever tried has good lines of sight to most all of the on-field action and the foot traffic seems to move reasonably well, though lines get long whether you are trying to “fill the tank” or to “empty the tank”.

All that said, it’s difficult to go to a game in a modern park like the one in San Diego and find any reason to think Dodger Stadium is superior in any way.

Now that Shea Stadium has been torn down, I’d have to say that Dodger’s Stadium is the worse one of any of the MLB parks I’ve been to, which is about half of them. It’s a nightmare to get into and out of the parking lot, it’s dirty, the food is mediocre, and the clientele leaves a lot to be desired. And I say all of these things while living about five miles from the Oakland Coliseum!

As a Dodger fan I love it. That being said when I go to other parks there are things I see that I wish Dodger stadium had. The concession lines are awful and many of the restrooms outside the field level are pretty small and poorly lit. But you cant beat the 75 degree weather and the beautiful views of the palm trees, mountains, and downtown LA.

Why in the world would a new owner want to give away (or sell at a discount) the long-term TV rights? That is the gold-mine aspect of owning a baseball team…any new owner that doesn’t have plans to start his own RSN is just short-changing himself/herself.

Dodger Stadium is the 3rd oldest park in MLB after Fenway and Wrigley.

The seats were replaced after the 2005 season but other than some upgrades to the scoreboard, I don’t think there have been any major renovations (several were proposed but I’m not aware of them getting completed).

I haven’t made it to Chavez Ravine yet but can anyone on here speak to how Dodger Stadium rates in comparison to the more modern ballparks for the fan experience? I don’t recall it being renovated recently and I’m guessing there aren’t plans to do so in the near future (like Wrigley). thanks
