Seems the only 2 people who think Prince can get anything close to Pujols contract are Scott Boras and Prince Fielder. Doesn’t stop them from trying to convince at least 1 team he is worth that much.

If Boras didn’t fool the Nationals into overpaying for Werth I bet they would have easily overpaid for Fielder.. Doesn’t stop Boras from trying though.

Better yet: just been listening to the new Cowboy Junkies CD, The Wilderness, which is absolutely gorgeous - there are at least five soon-to-be classics on it, plus, one tune which must be the definitive statement about the relationship of Canadians to their weather. I think this is more relevant to Toronto than the ignis fatuuous - with emphasis on fatuuous - of Prince Fielder popping the buttons off a Jays uniform.

Anthopolous is primarily a value return type GM. The experience with the big long term salaries haven’t been good (see Vernon Wells and Alex Rios). The team also wants roster flexability, like being able to trade someone without an ass ugly contract on top of making a swap.

Prince ain’t worth the risk, He’s good yeah, but if (when) chunks ahoy blows, nobody is gonna buy out that ticket to ride.

Let’s face it, if it wasn’t for the halos and pale hose being played like rubes at a carny game, the battle of the birds would be on for the AL East cellar crown.

One other comment. AA will ask the other GM’s about the availability of most players on the other teams. This does not mean that he is interested in those players. He is simply gathering information that might be of use in executing future 3 way trades.

It was never likely to happen, The Fielder to the Jays story was a figment of the imagination of the press. Non of the moves made in the off season by the Jays were ever leaked to the press. That is the way AA operates. If you see a rumor about the Jays being interested in someone, it is usually safe to ignore it because there is a high probability that the rumor is false. AA has even refused to say if the Jays bid for Darvish, despite the speculation that they made a strong bid.
