They are good fodder for commentary and basically the blog exposes/showcases what is part tired cliche’ by reporters working to dredge up stories during the slow part of the baseball calendar year, and part ridiculous and sometimes tongue-in-cheek on the part of ball players, perhaps exaggerating their off-season accomplishments, perhaps not.

In any case, it’s all in good fun the general clowning these articles help cause, whether the entire article is focused on a player in the best shape of his life, or if it comes about organically through some reporting on a team or player.

Just sort of the running joke around here, simply put. If anyone else can better explain it or expound on my attempt, feel free.

I hope Spring is coming. It was 11 degrees when I got to work this morning at 10 am. Some of my co-workers who come in an hour before me said it was 4 degrees when they got here.

I believe he means, he’s entering his third season post-TJ surgery, which should be something to look forward to. Not the ordinary garden-variety palaver from a Cody Ross or Ty Wigg about some temporary loss of squishy girth.
