yea ur right I just liked Damon alot when he played for the yanks and yea Pena may hit 30+ homers but how many K’s will he have..I like them both I’m just partial to Damon since he did well in new York..Pena couldn’t hit 230 for the cubs so I’m just sayin…the short porch will be ideal for either of them to be honest

well obviously dluxx has never played the game cuz u would have understood that it was a heads up play recognizing that lidge wasn’t covering third and also realizing the fact that he could beat Pedro Feliz to 3rd when he had the ball 2 steps away from him so yea I stand by my comments that feel for the game/situation can’t be taught..but thanks anyway for the instructional video jackass!!!

Carlos Pena would hit more that 20-22 though. So, unless their is a salary budget problem here, I can’t imagine Damon is choice.

That’s probably true. Until or unless Hal thinks there is an option out there to improve the team and then who really knows how much the Yankees have to spend.

Also not that I place a lot of credence in the rumor for the link I posted below. But a trade with the Royals that includes Hughes and another piece for Billy Butler of KC might only require the Yankees to bump up their payroll for 2012 by $3 or $4MM dollars. Maybe not even that much depending on all the pieces.

bronxbomer – if you were only right about Damon’s potential power come the 2012 season. Unfortunately, through his 4 seasons in NY 2006/2009 he only averaged 19 HR’s and that was with an average PA per season of 631 per. As a part time DH given about 200 PA even for the Yankees I wouldn’t expect him to hit more then about 10 HR’s +/-. He was also a heck of a lot young back then.

I’d take him back for about $1.5MM on a 1 year deal. Knowing what we can realistically expect from him.

Damon would be a perfect fit for the yanks with Jones getting LHP starts and Johnny getting RHP starts…if damon signs its an EASY 20-22 bombs in Yankee stadium if he stays healthy..the short porch is perfect for his swing…I would def take Damon back…he’s a good clubhouse guy and is just a player so to speak (his stealing 2 bags in one play against against the Phills in 09 won the yanks that series and that stuff can’t be taught!!!) I say bring him back if he’s willing to take a pay cut..but we all know that’s usually the deal breaker haha.

Thank you for placing this non story in its proper context. Unfortunately, in the off season baseball writers have little real news to chew on and have to speculate far too much.
