I don’t think the fake ID issue is enough to void his contract, although I haven’t seen the current CBA. However, Juan Oviedo/Leo Nunez has been waiting for a visa since September. Jairo Asencio/Luis Valdez missed an entire season. Heredia/Carmona may spend a lot of time on the (unpaid) restricted list this season.

If it was long term, I’d think they’d void it. I think it covers this year with an option. He’s pretty good for 7 million. In fact, relatively cheap in comparison.

I think it is possible, but at the same time, it’s hard to void a MLB contract, even if there is identity fraud. It’ll be drawn out in the courts, and in the meantime, if “old what’s his name” manages to get a work visa to come back to the states, he’ll most certainly pitch until they get it ironed out.

So who thinks his contract gets voided over this??? I think it does. I don’t think he was worth his pay last season. This also gets them out of paying him a guaranteed 9 million in 2013 I do believe.
