From a market perspective, a pretty good deal for the Giants. They can tie him for the rest of his arbritation at what is a reasonable price. They are nto risking his arm blowing out his arm three or five years out, and by cutting a deal they probably raise the odds he will consider staying.

Sports is a big business. Someone’s going to get that money regardless. Would you prefer an extra $20 million go into the pocket of the super-millionaire owners or the mere very multi-millionaire players? ‘Cause if you’re saying players shouldn’t get it, your indirectly saying the owners should get more.

Actually, including the posting fee, the Rangers are investing 18.7M per year on average for Yu. If a guy that has never thrown a pitch in the MLB is worth that kind of investment, what is a guy that has 2 CY awards and a WS ring worth as an investment? I think the Giants should just give him the 2yr-44M contract that his agent counter-offered and consider it a bargain. As long as he stays healthy and doesn’t go crazy with the bong rips, Timmy is going to break the bank when he hits FA.

Amazing to me that he thinks he deserves $21M a year to play a game. He will pitch maybe 25-35 times over 6-7 months and he believes he should get that kind of money for his time??? NO ONE should get that-type of money, for playing a game..
