Revenues and attendance are up dramatically across the board. The NFL was already light years ahead of MLB in popularity 20 years ago –it is simply better suited to TV, and no baseball commissioner can change that.

But Selig has made baseball the leader in online and advanced media. He deserves a lot of credit which he’ll never get because of lingering anger over the strike 17 years ago, and because his public relations presence is so atrocious.

He was about 10 years late on instant replay, and continues to allow the union to dictate the existence of guarenteed contracts which just kills the small market teams. He refuses to recognize Bonds achievements even though he was the commissioner in charge who made what Bonds was taking and doing legal. He has not allowed Mark Cuban to own a team but didn’t have a problem at all with the McCourts. He is an idiot and I can’t wait for some one who will truly work to grow the game to take over.
