Good bat when used in the right situations and a playable (read: not really that much worse than the two guys who he’d be subbing in for) glove at two corner positions, not too shabby for this point in the offseason.

Worst-case (and we are talking worst-case) scenario he could probably still slide over to 2B/SS/LF in a pinch if absolutely necessary. He offers some versatility, albeit not as much as he did earlier in his career.

Could be a really good, really useful signing. I think a lot of teams could have benefited from this kind of “depth” signing. Smart move by the O’s.

This guy played great in limited opportunities for my Tigers last year and was one of the key components in their second half surge. For reasons unknown, Leyland didn’t like him and routinely sat him over lesser players in situations where he was clearly the better option. I’m sad to see him go but this is a good pickup for the O’s
