I know this might sound insulting but I can’t imagine the type of fan that is going to pay to stand in line to get a baseball players autograph in January is going to hold much of a grudge.

I attended the ‘On Deck’ event last year and Prince Fielder did not attend. Braun was there, but no one really made a big deal about Prince. The reason why the Brewers pulled Braun, obviously, is because it would be a circus around him and a mob asking him whether it’s true or not. Withdrawing is probably the best idea, especially during his appeal process.

If the team has asked him not to attend then he should not. While they don’t say who made the decision I think the fact that he was in New York accepting his MVP award and made a speech that we can probably reasonably assume that the organization made the final call on this, not Braun himself.

Saints, If the team has asked him not to attend, which I think we can all agree is probably true, he needs to listen to them. These events are about the team not just Braun. And if he’s not guilty how is he a dope? It means he didn’t do anything wrong, not to mention we shouldn’t know about it anyways because it was supposed to be a confidential test until the appeal process was through. And going about his business to me means getting prepared to play baseball this year whether its 162 games or 112.

The first bit of leadership failure is the failure of the drug test. He’s got to be smarter than that. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he mistakenly took a tainted supplement (publicly, that seems to be the ONLY was athletes fail drug tests).

Even if he was not guilty of doping, he was guilty of being a dope. That failed test was not good for the Brewers.

And even if it is difficult to face the music on this thing, he’s got to go about his business, including attending these fan events. When the ride gets bumpy, leaders don’t bail.

Saints, that’s cool of you to say. On the Braun leadership part I don’t know what you want out of him though. Six months would put us back around August or September and I don’t think any of his leadership was questioned back then. As far as since the news of the test broke there isn’t much he can say until appeal process is finished. Once that is over I’m sure we’ll hear something out of him regardless of the outcome. To a lot of people Braun is a cocky punk but as far as I’m concerned all he’s ever been is confident in himself and he isn’t afraid for people to know it.

Brewcrew. I was definitely not trying to insult Brewer fan. You guys are great fans, and I have found that the people of Wisconsin, in general, are fantastic people.

I just think that Braun needs to be a better leader than he is showing over the last 6 months or so.

It’s because the event is about the team and geared towards kids and they don’t want it to turn into a sideshow.

Braun makes plenty of public appearances on his own.

Saints, Braun may be the only superstar but there’s plenty of Brewers the fans will line up to see. The fans here love Weeks, Gallardo, Axford, Hart not to mention some of the old timers like Yount who usually show up to these things. They may not be household names outside of Milwaukee but us Brewer fans know who we have.

I would agree that this probably wasn’t his decision alone. It’s still a fun event with or without Braun. Brewers still have a competitive team with plenty of guys the fans want to interact with.

I’m sure the fans had no desire to see the teams only star.

And of course the team took the decision out of his hands. A grown man cannot be expected to say “no comment” or “I can’t comment” while signing autographs for kids who ask about his suspension.

Well, most men could – just not men who are prone to a specific type of rage.
