Is there no editor who proofreads these articles. I know we’re sports fans, but it doesn’t mean we’re all illiterate. Unpossible is NOT a word. The word you’re looking for is “impossible”. At least run a spell check on your writing. That would have found this.

You don’t gain anything other than catharsis by cutting him. There’s nothing stopping them from stashing him in the minors because the worst thing that could happen is someone doesnt claim him off waivers (and obviously no one would) They could even remove him from the 40 man so he wouldn’t count against the luxury tax. But I’m sure you knew all of this and you’re just being emotional. Saying they need the roster spot is weird though.

It’d also screw over the Sox, making it doubly sweet (yeah, I know you’re a Sox fan, so we’ll settle this like men: starting in April, my team will meet your team on the field of play and engage in ritualistic combat. With Boras in the mix, no deal is set until the highest bidder gets off the phone with him, so I do NOT see what the problem is with Anthopolous yanking this guy out of the clutches of Cherington like I used to yank yarn out of my border Collies pawsies when she was a puppy.

Just imagine you’re the Miami Marlins. About 6 weeks ago you signed what soon will be a 33 year old Mark Buehrle to a 4 year/$58MM contract. Now potentially a 28 year old Edwin Jackson might be available for about $10MM +/- for just 1 year.

There’s some Orioles fans willing to take Burnett off their hands, if the Yankees are willing to pay a majority of the salary and take very little back in terms of players. Burnett lives in the Baltimore ‘burbs, so he’s always a popular target. Plus, even at 35 he can still be a successful pitcher, or at least competent enough to hold a place in the rotation so that a young starter isn’t forced into action.

That’s been a big problem for the past few years.

Of course he’s willing to take a one-year deal. I think the Orioles are the only team actually reported as willing to offer multiple years, and as nice as it would be to sign him cheaply due to lack of interest there’s no way he wants to come here.

He’ll take a one-year deal and try again next winter.
