Alleged Brian Cashman mistress arrested for stalking, extortion

We linked the Deadspin story about Brian Cashman’s alleged extramarital affair this morning.  Turns out that there’s a heck of a lot more to  it. Seems the woman Deadspin interviewed has been arrested and charged with extortion:

A woman has been charged with stalking and shaking down New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman.

Louise Neathway is being arraigned Thursday night in a Manhattan court. Prosecutors say she extorted $6,000 from Cashman, tried to squeeze $15,000 more and engaged in “a long-term effort to control and manipulate” him.

The woman in Deadspin’s story went by the name of “Lou” so it’s probably the same person. Her lawyers deny the extortion charge and say she’ll be vindicated. Cashman’s spokesman says he’s grateful that it’s in the hands of law enforcement.

What really happened is anyone’s guess. It’s possible that this woman is delusional, there’s nothing to the Deadspin story and that A.J. Daulerio was suckered. It’s possible it was an affair-gone-bad, leading to extortion. It’s possible that she’s delusional and no laws were broken. It’s possible that there was an affair, she’s not delusional and no laws were broken. And about six other possibilities too.

But overall: ugly, no matter what went down.

$21,000 probably isnt a huge amount of money to Brian Cashman but rich people having affairs leads to this kind of thing. It my be extortion but its his own fault he’s in the predicament.

    • bigharold - Feb 2, 2012 at 9:53 PM

“$21,000 probably isnt a huge amount of money to Brian Cashman…”

How would you know? Just because he likely makes more than you do you think it’s OK to be extorted?

If in fact Cashman had an affair then frankly as far as I’m concerned that is between him and his wife. Brain Cashman’s personal life if just that, .. personal. Had he been a CEO of a company that ran a string of auto dealerships this is not a story. But, because he’s the GM of the Yankees now it’s a valid topic of discussion, .. horse sh#t!

Brian Cashman has never held himself as some paragon of personal virtue or family values nor has he ever campaigned as some defined or nebulous representative of the public trust.

This is a personal issue that should be important only within his household. No story here, .. more on!

      • brewcrewfan54 - Feb 2, 2012 at 9:59 PM

I don’t even know what to make of your rant because I neither said it was ok for him to be extorted nor did I say this is a great baseball story. Unfortunately this is the type of things they report in the offseason.

      • bigharold - Feb 2, 2012 at 10:15 PM

How do you know that $21K isn’t a “huge” amount of money?

“… this is the type of things they report in the offseason.”

And that makes it worthy of some half assed generalization?

      • brewcrewfan54 - Feb 2, 2012 at 11:21 PM

Get off your high horse harold. Brian Cashman is the GM of the New York Yankees who has won several World Series championships. He’s getting paid severl million dollars a year. You’re righ I dont “know” he has that much money but most people will reasonably assume he does.

    • yournuts - Feb 2, 2012 at 10:11 PM

Brewcrewfan54, how can you make a statement like that without knowing all the facts? Thats like me condeming Ryan Braun without knowing the facts. Take 2 asprin and try to conduct yourself with common sense. Your opinion is your opinion, why not keep it to yourself.

      • brewcrewfan54 - Feb 2, 2012 at 11:13 PM

Yournuts, the only part of my statement that can be debated is the ladies truthfulness. Maybe Cashman never had an affair with her. Other than that though my original staement is true. Rich people having affairs can lead to extortion. And if and when it happens it is their fault for having that affair. And if you dont want to read other people’s opinions you should exit the internet chat boards.

      • yankeefanincolo - Feb 3, 2012 at 11:43 AM

yournuts, “Your opinion is your opinion, why not keep it to yourself.”

Isn’t 95% of what is posted on these sites people’s opinions? If people didn’t post their “opinions” there wouldn’t be much to say, would there?

In fact, isn’t your comment your “opinion”? Why not keep it to yourself?

      • badintent - Aug 20, 2013 at 1:14 AM

Now that we all know the facts on Braun. please say you’re sorry to Brewcrew54

Successful people are just as prone to crossing the path of crazies as much as other peolpe. Just look, we have to deal with you and we never asked for this LOL!

The freak show has an alias, 2 outstanding warrant, active probation in NJ and a pending ACD from the East Village….. oh yeah, Rich people beg for this stuff to happen to them.

Go find your rock just down the road from the Geico sign and crawl back under it!

It will be interesting to see if this knocks the Giants off the front and back of the tabloids tomorrow. I would much rather read about the Hype Bowl than this, but I also read the Times.

    Jerry Maguire:

Rod: No. A real man does not shoplift the “pootie” from a single mom.

Jerry: I didn’t “shoplift the pootie.” We were thrown together and — I mean it’s two mutual people who ——— Alright, I shoplifted the pootie.

There’s GOTTA be a relevant George Costanza clip to post for this story…

I’m going through all 9 seasons in my head…nothing’s coming yet. Damn.

    • Mark - Feb 2, 2012 at 11:27 PM

The sex scene with the secretary where George yells out…

      “I’m giving you a raise!”

AND he works at Yankee Stadium when this happens.

boras would have got this chick 35,000 no problem

“What really happened is anyone’s guess. It’s possible that this woman is delusional, there’s nothing to the Deadspin story and that A.J. Daulerio was suckered.”

Which is exactly why stories like this shouldn’t be exploited in the first place.

    • unclemosesgreen - Feb 3, 2012 at 6:20 AM

Cashman gave her $6,000 for “medical expenses.” Now she wanted to up the ante. For anyone saying … “Cash can afford it…” the problem is there’s no way you give 6 g’s to a con-artist and that’s the end of it. Give them an inch and they’ll try to go for the marathon.

She’s an insane British con-woman with multiple arrests stateside dating back to 1998. There are multiple orders of protection currently filed against her, including by her ex-husband and teen daughter. She is allowed no contact with them, or an ex-boyfriend, and multiple others.

One of her neighbors described her as “psychotic.”

Whatever else did or didn’t happen here, it’s safe to assume that Brian Cashman and his family have been victimized.

      • skids003 - Feb 3, 2012 at 8:09 AM

I hope they burn her. Sue her, make her serve some time. Her history points to this happening alot. Next thing you know Gloria Allred will show up as her lawyer.

      • WhenMattStairsIsKing - Feb 3, 2012 at 3:35 PM

Exactly how good was she for a romp, for Brian to put up with this in the first place?

  8. surfwater - Feb 3, 2012 at 12:51 AM

Just in from the cash man: ‘ i have to make this grogeous dame i used look crazy so the public will pity me-but i’m open to any new dolls who wanna little this and a little that- just NOT giving any dame anything more-don’t matter what i get the point is i’m only offering gorgeous dolls a little this and a little that and my spousey do not care-so there,.’

  9. randygnyc - Feb 3, 2012 at 4:23 AM

This woman has a very long history of stalking and manipulating digital communication. She has multiple convictions for separate incidents. It is likely that at some point, cash man may have shown this woman a random kindness and got repaid with scorn (and perhaps, dead cats).

    • unclemosesgreen - Feb 3, 2012 at 6:21 AM

Not dead cats, the pet rabbit.

      $6,000 is a specific “kindness”.

  10. bostonfan4eva - Feb 3, 2012 at 7:00 AM

Is the woman blind? Look at him, he is butt ugly. All she would want from him would be money.

  11. purnellmeagrejr - Feb 3, 2012 at 8:02 AM

Brian Cashman is obviously suffering from “Steve Cohen’s disease” and dese4rves our sympathy and support.

  12. yankeesgameday - Feb 3, 2012 at 9:51 AM

    Yeah, but is she hot?

  13. dsimp724 - Feb 3, 2012 at 11:21 AM

Any chance I can get her number when your done…. Steve phillips

    • bobwsc - Feb 3, 2012 at 12:42 PM

Phillips only wants her if she has hooves.

  14. richwizl - Feb 3, 2012 at 1:05 PM

Yes, what the rich call “an affair”, also known as adultery, cheating on your spouse or whatever else you want to call being a selfish, unscrupulous pos who can’t live up to one’s sacred vows. Poor Brian, now his wife can treat him like a slave forever; what a shame.
