Oakland’s interest in Manny Ramirez has been public knowledge for the past couple of weeks.

But the Athletics are not alone.

According to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal, the Orioles are also exploring the thought of making an offer to the 39-year-old free agent slugger.

Ramirez made only 17 total plate appearances last year for the Rays and must serve a 50-game PED suspension before being allowed to appear in a regular season game this season. But he posted a respectable .870 OPS with nine home runs and 42 RBI across 320 plate appearances in 2010 and is claiming to be in improved shape. He seems likely to score a minor league deal from someone.

I’d have to say the media is expressing far more interest in Manny Ramirez than MLB.

it doesnt matter if you like him or not, the facts are that this player has hit 555 homers in his career. there are only 13 people who have hit more in the history of baseball. i wish him the best and hope that he will take the field once again only to smack a few more over the wall, hopefully one or two of them over the green monster. not that im wishing any bad to the sox because im a redsox fan im just sick and tired of all of the negativity thrown his way. in 2004 he was the WSMVP and was cheered, was instrumental in the WS 2007 and was cheered, now it seems that all that the people want to do is rip him apart. if it wasnt for his FEW indescressions he would be on his way to the HOF. why is it that the players of today have to be skweeky clean? mickey mantle was a drunk, babe ruth was a womanizer, ty cobb was an arrogant SOB, just to name a few, yet their names are said with reverance and are in the HOF .time to stop all this holier than thou BS and appreciate the ballplayers for what they can do on the field and get the hell out of their personal lives.
