Yes, which is why the article says “he should be ready” not “he will be ready.” Just because you haven’t heard it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Newer methods are being utilized all the time.

I played ball for 16 years (pitching for the last 10 of them) and I’ve never heard of the use of a half mound. It seems to me that if you’re not ready to throw off a mound, you’re just not ready to throw off a mound.

I’m trying to envision a half mound. Is it a semi-circle with a right angle drop in the back? Does it split the rubber in half? If you rock back too far do you fall on your ass? So much time, too few questions.
