NO WAY would he return to Boston. Damon is always a Yankee to New York fans, no matter where he plays, but NOT Boston.

Nice to see you over here. I like your reasoning very much. Johnny is not playing for a few very solid reasons. One is, he and others think to much of themselves, (not meant to be as harsh as it may read). Johnny was a great clubhouse guy, when he was an everyday player. Can he handle playing part time and how will he handle it, can he handle it?

I like Damon and certainly appreciated his contributions as a Yankee but he didn’t have the arm for RF in Fenway 10 years ago, he sure can’t hack it there now.

He does however have the perfect arm for Fenway in LF, .. but the RS have too much invested Crawford to mess around with trying him in RF. And, for the record Crawford’s arm isn’t good enough for LF in Fenway.

I agree that if they can get Damon for about 2 mil it’s well worth it, unless they think there is somebody in the minors that they think can get it done.

Frankly, his swing is perfect for Yankee stadium and he’s a gamer. Also, Damon shines in big moments which is exactly what you need coming off the bench. If they are going to go out and get a veteran, .. Damon would be my pick.

Olney is reporting that next week, the Yankees will be in a position to add one of Ibanez, Damon or Matsui. Spring training is almost upon us, so if they are going to add someone, it will be soon.

phukyouk, I see where you’re coming from. But personally I’d like to see the Yankees go with Ibanez if they want to get someone on the wrong side of 37. Ibanez hits right handed pitching pretty well and for fair power and can still play the field “if necessary” the emphasis on “IF necessary”. Of course if all depends on the money regardless of who it is. I wouldn’t pay anymore than $1.5MM for any of them. If that’s not good enough let them go in house with Jorge Vazquez for peanuts.

if Damon were to resign with Boston most of the booing would probably stop. It would start again if they put him in RF. Every base hit to RF would be an inside the park home run, as it would take that long for Damon to return the ball to home plate.

I disagree with ya buddy… i think for 2 Mil + Incentives he would be a very good pickup. i mean he still got a but of pop left in him. he would play MAYBE 80-90 games and has a great clubhouse presence. i mean whats the worst that can happen? he sucks and they release him? i say for 2 Mil go for it.
