No until that cheating, no integrity, whiner either comes out and admits that he cheated or gets caught once and for all. Both are unlikely because A.) He has no intergrity and B.) ESPN won’t allow Bud Selig to name any big name Boston stars…at least until they leave (I.e. ManRam, Mo Vaughn, Roger Clemens, etc…)

I still think that there will be a settlement between the 2 parties just before the deadline at about $14MM for the 2012 season. I honestly think both parties may be to concerned about losing to let this go all the way to the arbitrator. But if it does go that far I believe Ortiz stands a better than 50% chance of winning.

I don’t know, his babip the last two years was above his career average, so he might be due for regression to more modest production. Slightly more than 2 WAR? Which would make even the Sox offer slightly generous.

Lord forbid a team who’s pressed for cash try to save some money to get a starting pitcher. I think as much as anyone that David Ortiz deserves to get paid, but if its the difference between the Red Sox not getting Oswalt and them getting him, I’m more than all for him getting 12.5 million

If Ortiz wins, it probably also settles where Oswalt lands since it seems unlikely the Red Sox would have the payroll room if Ortiz gets the additional $3.85 million over the team’s figure.
