Royals have control of Gordon through the 2013 season. If what you say is true about ayton Moore, why do they pander so much to Luke Hochaver? The scouting Director who drafted him was fired when Moore took over.

Gordon will be gone after this year. Keeping him around will only do two things:

1. Prove Dayton Moore was wrong along

2. Be a reminder to Dayton Moore that at one time he didn't have his iron-fisted control over the club (Gordon wasn't his draft choice)

In other words, for one small, brief moment in life, Dayton Moore wasn't perfect. Gordon will always be a remind of that. Therefore, he has no future with the team.

Is anyone surprised that the royals might screw this up? This is the same GM and owner that fired town favorite and Royal Hall of Famer Frank White as the color commentary man for the local broadcasts. I am sure that Dayton will replace him with a former Atlanta Brave just like he has with every open roster spot. This town is sick of the Braves Way and Scott Pioli's Patriot Way and no winning to go along with it.

The important thing is they DON'T go to arbitration. As far apart as they were on the numbers for a LT deal this is the best course of action.

If the Alex puts together another good season the Royals better pay him. If he reverts to old Alex the Royals aren't on the hook for an alabtross contract.

It was my understanding that they hammered out this one year deal to avoid going to arbitration and that they were still going to continue to try and work-out a long term deal???

The longer this goes on the less confident I am that Gordon will be a Royal past 2013...
