If you knew something about baseball, you would know that the new rules SEVERELY penalize teams if their payrolls get to a certain point; it’s not the same as it was just 2 years ago. This isn’t a bad ting though because Cashman is more than capable of putting a good team together even under these conditions. First step: get Burnett the heck out of here and don’t take too big of a hit.

He gets a cushy contract with the biggest sports team on the planet, and he can’t hack it.

No boring, it’s all psychological. I’ve watched EVERY pitch he’s ever thrown with the Yankees. The only possible explanation for his lack of results is some mental block. I’ll bet he throws up some incredible numbers during the first half of the year with the pirates, until he gets traded to a contender, and back into the pressure cooker.

There’s not “no” pressure, just less. He’s still pitching for his next contract, not to get DFA’d and have to bounce around on minor league deals, he has every reason to want to perform. I think if he goes to the NL and does well it’ll be the move from the AL East to the NL Central more than anything psychological.

Trading AJ is just like signing a stud pitcher. Sure pitchers will sometimes falter, but it’s completely different knowing it’s going to happen and having to hold your breath every fifth day, until it happens.

I’m sure there’s other interested teams if they could get him for about $5 million a year. Seriously- who out there is better for that kind of money? I severely doubt Oswalt’s going to sign for that or less. The pitching market has dried up in a hurry.

I think Yankee fans should start a collection to pay off pay off Burnett’s salary if the Yanks trade him. Think about it: if every Yankee fan contributes $5-$10, that’s a substantial chunk of money. Someone with the proper resources please get this going and get this clown on a fast train to wherever-the-fuck.
