Chacin's weight should not be a problem. The Rockies are probably far more concerned with Chacin's ability to control and command his pitches. That's what's standing between him and becoming a true ace and All Star.

Even if 226 pounds, he can remedy that in spring training. Maybe it's not professional being that weight, if he indeed is 226, if he's soft but it's not a disaster to his team if he is such. Improving his control is, however, critical to team success.

He should be the opening day starter. Does he want to be?

That couldn’t be further from the truth.

No it isn't. My brother used to party with Armando Galarraga when he went to Venezuela every winter. They'd go out to discos late night. SOP for the majority of the players. Venezuela is far more laid back than the US. Such players miss the outright "Libertinaje" of their home and unwind. It is an exaggeration to say they do nothing but party. But there's a REASON such a rep exists in the first place, it wasn't made up out of thin air!

It seems really weird to split hairs over 10 pounds. At that weight, you can vary by 10 pounds simply by what time of day you weigh in and when/what you last ate.
