Aaron, it still might be attractive to the Rockies too if De La Rosa picks up his option for 2013 if he works through the surgery and proves he can still throw hard and effectively. At his best, De La Rosa can be both very average and outstanding. If he's at least as good as he was, post-surgery, then he fits well as a no. 3 or 4 starter. Many claimed he was no. 2 quality but his inconsistency over a full season doesn't merit that status. As a no. 3 or 4, he's a very good pitcher, if healthy.

The Pirates were in the running for him last year and I think they wanted to give him a 3 year, $30M contract. Thank God he didn't bite. Now we get to sign AJ Burnett!
