Billy Butler and Mike Moustakas are in The Best Shape of Their Lives
Feb 15, 2012, 11:33 AM EDT
Getty Images A rare twofer on the BSOHL beat. From the mouth of Ned Yost in Bob Dutton’s notes column from yesterday’s KC Star, talking about how a ton of guys are already in Royals camp despite it still being ten days from the mandatory reporting date:
“There are a ton of position players here, too. Billy Butler and Mike Moustakas — I’m extremely proud of both of those guys. They are in the best shape they’ve been in their career. Billy looks great, and I hardly recognized Moose, he looks so good.”
Of course Mike Moustakas is 23 years-old and has a grand total of five professional seasons under his belt, so I would hope he was pretty close to the best shape of his career as it was. But really, good for him.

Kopy, I think you missed Jake Westbrook from last night.
I think we might have enough for two lineups…let’s see how we do
Team 1 Team 2
CF: F. Guitierrez CF: Fowler
RF: J Heyward 3B: Moustakas
DH: Cabrera DH: Butler
3B: Longoria 1B: Freeman
1B: M Teixera ‘LF’: Smoak
LF: Cespedes ‘RF’: Huff….hahahahaha
SS: Lowrie C: Molina
C: Martin SS: Tejada
2B: Hall 2B: McGeheeOk, so we’ll have to hope and pray for the ground balls. As this outfield defense will be lacking in range…
S1: Garcia
S2: Hughes
S3: Cecil
S4: Zambrano
S5: TillmanCL: Wilson
BP: Grilli
BP: Lynn
BP: Padilla
BP: C Guitierrez

I’m pretty sure that Team 1 is going to kick the living shit out of team 2.

Dare I suggest that we start Butler over Tex against righties?

Would this article about Geovany Soto be BSOTL material?
“Now, I have a better balance [in my diet],” he said. “[Cubs outfielder] Marlon Byrd and I are going to be on the same program and keep the weight off. He looks unbelievable. I just want to stay in shape and get the club some wins.”

Should the plural be “Best Shapes of their Lives?” You know, like Attorneys General.
I always root for the Attorneys General style of pluralism, myself.
Sidenote – this is a baseball blog.

I have BSOHL question… ESPN recently posted a video showing Matt Kemp’s offseason workout regimen, and he talks about being in the best shape possible coming into the season. Does that count?

Boring- I’m not caring about this unless Detroit says that Prince Fielder is in the BSOHL.
