I going too baseless and book it and say AJ has a solid 2 or 3 starter year, Pittsburgh style which would be ten wins 4.50 era and Yankees will miss him production wise but not salary wise

What IS terrible is Girardis seemingly long hook for AJ, allowing him to get the 5.9 innings per start.

AJ should have been yanked after the 4th or 5th inning regardless of how good he was doing……anything after that was borrowed time and you were just praying to lose a lead.

When was the last time the Pirates had a power arm of any kind in their rotation? Even the 90-92 team didn’t really have any hard throwers. Ted Power doesn’t count.

All I can say is thank God AJ’s gone, he has to go down as one of the worst free agent pitcher signings other than that buck tooth loser Kei Igawa. Again, thank God he’s gone.

I think this is a win, win for both teams. AJ should do much better in the NL Central and the Yankees got some salary relief as well as a much clearer picture of their starting rotation. Without forcing AJ into the starter role where he has failed miserably the past 2 years.

If the Bucs do contend this year, clearly Burnett won’t be the ace of the staff, just a solid starter. The NL Central winner may have only have 88-90 wins, no dominant teams in that division.
