Do you mean: Why a has-been bum? Why? It’s two sentences. Sometimes, it’s hard to figure you out.

We don’t know yet if he’s a “has-been.” IMHO, it would be a good idea to wait and see if he makes the team, and then wait and see how well he does up to the All-Star game. At that point, we should have a pretty good sample size of what he’s done, to predict how he’s going to do. No?

No, because it proved Raul got through fifth grade – which is when I suspect most of us were first introduced to “Invictus.” Of course, by then I had studied the entire Dr. Seuss canon in detail, which equipped me to critique it professionally for the piece of blowhard self-promotional crap that it actually is. Henley wrote some fine stuff and it’s too bad that possibly the worst thing he ever wrote – effectively, a pep-talk to himself during his struggles with osseus tuberculosis – but that’s probably because it’s the kind of simplistic outburst that appeals to fifth grade teachers who think their students are dolts and to, eh, businesses full of dumb jocks who get hurt a lot.

Not a big deal one way or another. But for $1MM I like it compared to what some of the other Free Agent DH’ers were asking.

Just one signing for Cashman to take care of be it Chavez or someone else to spell A-Rod occasionally at 3rd base and then they are done.
