Cabrera’s got 44 WAR vs. Fielder’s 23, despite only being one year older, thanks to better hitting (in bigger ballparks, no less) amd better fielding (at least in his early and mid 20s).

What clown of a manager would sit either of these guys if they were slumping? In the four seasons that Cabrera has been in Detroit, he has never ‘slumped’ to the point where he still wasn’t the team’s most lethal hitter. His version of a “slump” happened in late 2009 and he was still hitting over .300 during that stretch. And what if Fielder regresses in the AL Central? How is that going to create tension between Fielder and Cabrera or the rest of the team? They’re both (likely) future HOF candidates. You have some serious built-in bias to really believe that nonsense.

200 RBIs is pretty likely, but 100 HRs? Prince Fielder has hit 50 once. Five seasons ago. In a more hitter-friendly park. Miguel? He’s never hit 40. (Though obviously he doesn’t need to hit 40, considering his patience and ability to hit for average.)
