They are both control pitchers with deceptive deliveries and poor velocity.

Also most experts think they are better suited to the bullpen then starting and the O’s signed them both by promising them a shot at the starting rotation.

Why is Wada the next Uehara and not the next Lincecum or Kershaw? They both sat out the beginning of spring training with minor injuries. What connection do Koji Uehara and Tsuyoshi Wada share that could possibly be relevant?

According to Wada this is normal for him in February and if he was still in Japan would not be newsworthy. He says he wants to try pitching in a day or so but the O’s won’t let him.
