Still, even after a run of lightening to a Championship, San Francisco is the Niners’ town. Will be even after moving to Santa Clara.
Long have loved and appreciated having both Leagues in town, American and National, never understood not loving both the A’s and the Giants. The relationship with the Raiders is a whole ‘nother thing for sure, but glad they are there. I remember when thinking Lester Hayes and Steve DeBerg were both cool wouldn’t get you in a brawl,,,,,
My heart bleeds orange and black and I grew up at the ‘Stick, McCovey is the gate keeper of my heaven, but, go Niners
A form of hell for me might be an eternity in LA, but even then I would not ignore or fail to appreciate have the Angels and the AL close by. And the Gene Autry Angels always hosted a great spring training game, maybe the best.
Love the game and can’t wait for April to roll around!

The White Sox won a World Series 6 years ago. The Cubs last won it 103 years ago. Even so, the Cubs are the team Chicago WANTS to see win.

Before 2010 the A’s had 4 World Championships in the Bay Area (including a win over the Giants) and the Giants had none. Nobody cared. The Giants have always been Northern California’s team, and nothing that happens on the field is going to change that.

The Angels and Mets are closer to equality within their markets than the White Sox or Athletics. But they are still a distant second. If the Angels win the World Series, it might seem for a while A’s if they were equal to the Dodgers. But if the Dodgers win the World Series, the Angels will practically be forgotten by Southern California.

The Angels, White Sox and A’s will always be second class citizens in their markets. The A’s are probably more like third or fourth class citizens.

The Dodger fanbase is subdued now, but it is a sleeping giant (pardon choice of words), and far, far larger than the Angels base.

And then they became the California Angels then the Anaheim Angels and now the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim while being located nowhere near LA itself…while the Dodgers have been the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

as its been said, the Angels only connection to LA is them putting Los Angeles in their name to boost profit. Los Angeles belongs to the Dodgers.

I really don’t see any wiggle room, since unlike the Cubs and White Sox, the Angels do not even play home game anywhere in LA County, let alone the city itself. Fair weather fans follow the wins, no matter what city you live in, but I don’t see hardcore fans of either franchise changing.

LA is, and always will be, a Dodger town. The Angels, despite their asinine name, do not play in LA and have not played home games anywhere in LA (or LA county for that matter) since 1965.

What happened when the Angels won their only Series title? Nothing, still millions of Dodger fans here, waiting for Frank McAsshat to get thrown out of town.

Ok, well in Chicago, this will never ever ever be a Sox town and will always always always be a Cubs town, no matter the product on the field or recent WS. So, let me ask the west coasters this question: are the Angels to the Dodgers as the Sox are to the Cubs or is there more wiggle room for the Angels to actually “take over” the town?? I assume that it is similar to Chicago in that it will always always always be a Dodgers town…
